Anything Goes : Need an agent by Evelyn H Princess

Need an agent

I'm Evelyn. I have amazing stories that I dream to see on the screen live or animated/ big or small screen. I don't know how to find an agent and I can't afford a good one. Is there anyone who'd like to hear and buy my script at the same time involve me in the project too. I mostly live in India and I have no one to guide me through my most desired career of being a story teller... a screenwriter. I want to see my characters come alive - not just in my dreams. Is there anyone who'd like to help me? Someone who's patient enough until my project is live to share the profits? I hope and pray - that this is the final place I might find someone who'd recognise my talents and help me.

Hi, Evelyn, nice to meet you. I think you first should check the section 'Happy Writers' here on stage32. There you find the possibility to get your screenplays reviewed by stage32. Plus, you then can pitch your scripts in pitching sessions directly to producers and production companies. Just check it out. Good luck!

Thank you, Elisabeth...

Hi Evelyn, I will soon be teaching a class or webinar on Stage 32. I'm not yet sure what topics I will cover. I know this is what people always say, but it's good advice -- If you win a prestigious screenwriting contest (you can enter from anywhere in the world!!), your work will be seen. If you win, you may likely get emails from managers who want to meet you. If you don't win, you can rewrite your script and try to enter again! I am a volunteer at the nonprofit CineStory Foundation (CineStory.org), and we have a good contest. The winner from 2013 saw his film get made with Jennifer Aniston starring. It's called CAKE, and you can find it on IMDB. But there are certainly a number of other very prestigious contests. I promise you that if you win, people will take notice.

You don't have to pay for an agent. Agents work for a 10% commission.

I work two jobs and barely get time to come online, Regina. If there's anyone who can be a friend, agent, mentor and my represent me while I'm in India I am willing to share up 40% commission. I know that God has given me talent to tell amazing stories but staying here has almost cut me off from the platform I desperately need. I hope Stage32 is a door where I can find someone to work with. As of now I have One fantasy based story with its sequel I'm currently working on, two short stories and one family, romantic drama. Thank you for your recommendation; I will look at the website you've suggested; if the entry is free I will probably enter the contest.

I'm not a labor relations attorney, so I might not have all the details right. But franchised agents have agreements with the Unions (and maybe that State, I'm not certain), which state that commission must be 10%. If agents are telling you they want 40%, I believe that is against franchise policy.

Well, I didn't come across anyone asking either but if someone is representing me and working hard to help me get my stories noticed and to be made into a TV film/series,,, then I suppose they deserve more than just 10%.
