Banker to the Poor - Muhammad Yunus

Banker To The Poor - Muhammad Yunus If you loved The Soul of Money, then you gotta read this! As much for the narrative as the lowdown on the Grameen m.o. I toted this one around with me at Full Frame Film Festival this weekend. (Yep... I'm a nerd. :) I found myself hurrying to a seat so that I could read. Why I loved this book: For producers and other adrenaline junkies like us, life can feel like an eternal scavenger hunt. The gears are always turning, churning out fresh ideas and sources of funds for our lives, our films and our work -- all of which springs from our heart and our guts. For me, Yunus' memoir was like Soul, another game-changer. It feels like a bookend to Twist's message; (which is essentially that scarcity is a mindset, and that creatives and fundraising types - deserve to be paid for our work. Yunun reminds us that knowing our worth need not prohibit us from getting work done. For anyone who's been faced with choices borne of a budget stretched way too thin, and pondered where is this dab of money I have going to do the most good?, this book is almost certainly a game changer. Page after page, I found myself thinking, "What one man can do, another can do..." May or may not be true, but between the covers of Yunus' soulful memoir, the inspiration to "start with what you've got, where you are" is there, free for the taking.
