Read a Good Book Lately? : Sixteen Satires of Juvenal by Colin Hussey

Sixteen Satires of Juvenal

(April Posting Challenge, Day 23) The Sixteen Satires of Juvenal is a great historical reference for those looking to shoot a story set in ancient Rome. Originally published in the 2nd Century, this collection of pointed poems by a disgruntled ex-tribune, is in PDF form that can be downloaded here: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~rauhn/Hist_416/hist420/JuvenalSatirespdf.pdf . Juvenal describes the Roman Empire's capitol during its height, depicting a gritty and decadent place, plagued with many of the same problems as modern cities, today, in terms of crime and corruption. Quentin Tarantino would be good at directing a movie set in Rome as described by Juvenal.
