Read a Good Book Lately? : The Glam Scam by Vasco Phillip de Sousa

Vasco Phillip de Sousa

The Glam Scam

It's an old book, from 1994. It's subtitle is "Successfully avoiding the casting couch and other talent and modelling scams."

It's aimed primarily at actors.

I've had this book for years, but I've started reading it again. Wow, there were so many tragedies that could have been avoided if it were more widely read. It warns about all kinds of sick people, some of which we've seen in the news recently.

Another thing it warns about, that don't make the big headlines, are the money scams. Sometimes, even established people in the industry (such as accountants and producers) are involved. Investors, writers, actors, producers, photographers get scammed all the time, and you can find those buried in the financial newspapers.

Unfortunately, this poor is very out of date, and it doesn't cover the way scam artists cover the latest technology, legislation, or cultural changes. However, it is still a starting point.
