Although it's a close kept secret, if you ask around the lens community, most of the Panavision lenses are made from older still photo glass, the reason I mention that is because there are ways to achieve the visual look at the fraction of the budget. They do sometimes heavily modify them, but over the years there are newer competitors entering the market to give you the "funky flavors" of lenses Panavision has traditionally had a monopoly on.
