Interesting way to tell this story. For everyone who doubted that it could work, watch the video. You were correct, this is utterly awful imaging. Even on Vimeo, on a smallish computer monitor this is so technically bad it is astounding. Imagine what this junk would look like projected on a big screen. This certainly goes a long way toward reenforcing the very worthy concept of "just because you can do something doesn't mean you should". It's a phone, something you talk on and get in trouble for having on any set.
Andrew - you made me laugh out loud! "something you talk on and get in trouble for having on any set." I still give credit to filmmakers that are willing to utilize a small tool like a phone and try and make a film from it.
Making someone laugh unexpectedly is always a worthwhile thing, particularly when it wasn’t a joke. Separate the content and the tool. The story telling was decent, worth watching on the freeway while drinking your morning megga-mocha and running lines for your creative cursing class. The tool made images were horrid in every way. So bad that they were a distraction to the storytelling. If a story is made almost unwatchable want to guess what happens? Here’s a hint, your fairy Godfather isn’t about to drop large amounts of money in easy to carry bags into your lap. I agree that trying new things is worthwhile, but it is immensely important that one is capable of evaluating things honestly and critically. If that was applied to this video it would never have been seen outside of a 4K viewing venue (Kewl Kidz Koffee Klatsch). As a professional imaging system the iPhone is a tool for home videos. Move on, nothing to see here at this time.
