Blackkkklansman

I finally managed to watch Blackkkklansman yesterday, looking forward to today's masterclass with Terence Blanchard. Anyone else attending? What did you guys think of the music in the latest Spike Lee joint?

Jimmie Williams

I'm a HUGE fan of Terence Blanchard! His 25th Hour score is one of my favorites. However, I will say that I was bit underwhelmed by his score to Blackkkklansman...it just didn't resonate well with me. What did you think? I didn't get the chance to see his Stage 32 masterclass. How was it?

Bill Costantini

Man...that must have been a great master class. I've been a Terence Blanchard fan for like 30 years. That cat sure can make some great music.

Jimmie Williams

Bill, I’m in complete agreement with you. Terence is an amazing composer and orchestrator!

Alessandro Mastroianni

I enjoyed the masterclass a lot. And while I agree with you on the Blackkklansman OST, listening what he had to say about working with Spike Lee explained a lot!

Bill Costantini

Jimmie: you said it. He has all the musical sensibilities and tonal chops of all the greats who came before him, and his hybrid style of jazz, funk, R&B, blues, classical and avant-garde truly makes him a unique artist. How can anyone not love Terence Blanchard?

(And no...I'm not his publicist. I just admire greatness.)

Jimmie Williams

Awww Alessandro, that says a lot...I can just imagine. Does stage32 have the masterclass archived or available? I’m dying to check it out...

Jimmie Williams

Bill, that’s the great thing about Terence...his masterful blend of those styles to create unique voicings, harmonies, orchestrations is brilliant. Really glad that there are others who appreciate his compositional style.
