Just thought I'd jump in here, would love to hear folks' experience scoring to picture. I've done a fair mix of this & simply timing music per request. Oddly, the projects I scored to picture were those I was also involved in sound designing or sound editing. Obviously this isn't always the case. And the music I've scored to picture has always been my fav, much more impact.
Hi Steven, Are you saying "score to picture" meaning placing music to picture or composing to picture?
The best thing I ever did with regard to writing music for film was to take a screenwriting class. FIlm is about story. PERIOD. If you know how a film is put together you will figure out how to put music to a scene...oh and this: watch a lot of movies.
