Film event promo swag: what do you want to receive and what do abhor getting?

Hi Stage 32'ers,

Quick question: my project has a few marketing promos coming up and I want to order some branded swag to giveaway.

If you were going to receive this swag, what do you want?

What do you hate getting? My film is a steampunk western. Thanks for the insight and help!

Steven Harris Anzelowitz

Baseball cap always good.

Tote bags too. Now that I think about it you have to have a mug for your desk. And who wouldn't want a baseball jacket. That's about it. Pens are for banks.

Hats, shirts

Thank you for the feedback!

JD Hartman

Shirts if the image is unique and they are of good quality. Hats, don't wear 'em. How many give away coffee mugs does a person want? Maybe a steampunk/western themed paperweight? Something that directly ties to the movie or movie poster?

Philip Sedgwick

Baseball caps. Poster magnets. Wine glasses.

When Hot Bath and a Stiff Drink screened in Tucson they had individual posters for each of the principal actors. The actors sat at a table and patiently signed. Nice touch, but no doubt pricey.

Amber Greenlee

Don't forget to have fun with the theme of Steampunk. You could have monocles, binoculars, sewing kits, goggles, gears, and tiny wind-up robot toys. Slap the logo of the film on them first so if they keep these things, they remember from where (I have a beloved towel from the premier of Hitchhiker's Guide still). Have fun with it. Make it memorable.

Chad Stroman

No pens. Posters are good if they are cool looking/artistic. Maybe coffee mugs?

David E. Gates

Anything as long as it has a use - that way people will use it and not just throw it in the bin after a week.

Roxanne Paukner

Sundance gave away great water bottles. I use mine all of the time, and that's the kind of advertising that gets around, used and seen - every time I take a sip. I even scored a couple extras to bring back for friends.

Matt Trudell

Hats and guns

Vero Sun

It could be also a light but solid city backpack.
