Loved what Damien Chazelle did with WHIPLASH. Lean, sharp, focused. Other highlights for me: Stephen Knight with LOCKE, no easy task. Dan Gilroy with NIGHTCRAWLER...assured, strong filmmaking. Many of these are on my "Must see" list including A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT, CITIZENFOUR, DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, and BLUE RUIN to name a few. Great share, Darren.
