If you're not sacrificing, you're not serious. And that's not just with art, but any life pursuit.
I throw up when people talk about "art." Maybe 5% Artists work in the Industry, 95% are Hacks or just surviving in a sink or swim business. I follow the Joel Silver filmmaker's handbook: "I don't make art. I buy it."
Even if you're a hack, there are sacrifices to be made. Might be the existence of your soul, but you're sacrificing something. Now go clean up your puke.
Believe me, a Working Hack has paid plenty dues-- blood & tears-- it beats driving for Uber :)
