Hi Eddie. This is not how you do it. Find a film festival that cater to your film type. Make sure to list your production in the industry trades like Hollywood Reporter and Variety, people will call you to see your film but you WILL NOT let them see it until in a film festival setting. Invite them to the screening, have at least 2 distributors there at the same time for maximum effect and leverage. Approaching a distributor yourself means you have no leverage. Start contacting an entertainment attorney, you will need one to deal on your behalf. Don't do this yourself.

Ken I have submitted films to festivals and won awards. I am not alone I have a good team. I am hoping this post will give me some leads.

Ken Koh

That's great Eddie. What type of distribution are you hoping for?

Eddie Bammeke

I'm open to VOD, DVD, TV and indie cinema. Blood Army Legacy and There is no such thing as Zombies can potentially be indie film hits. I prefer to try the direct approach with distributors.

This may not be what you want to hear, but you're not going to contact one or two but all of them that deals in your genre. You send them each a presskit of your film. All those film festivals you've been accepted to and those awards, now you're going to print the emblems of the festival 'Official Selection', 'Winner' on 200-400 press-kits and EPKs depending on how many home video distributors there are for your genre. The most important aspect here will be the cover of your press-kit, make sure you have a kickass poster. You're setup as an LLC correct? They'll call you. Depending how many distributors are interested, you may want to setup a private screening for them in a movie theatre setting. Don't sent a DVD or YouTube video link. Yes, it's gonna cost you but it's the business. I assume you want leverage and to get the best deal possible for your film. I could go on in detail and break it down for you if you need. I did this few times before and got distribution everytime.

Eddie Bammeke

What films did you get distributed? I have already done emblems ect. Intrested to look at your work, do you have a Imdb?

Eddie Bammeke

Also Ken I don't think you understand where I am coming from, I have dealt with and been contacted by a few distribution companies before, i posted a question asking if anyone knew of any distributors not how to deal with them directly. A lot of stuff you are talking about is what a sales agent would do.

I got distribution for 'Crisis in The Congo' which got picked up worldwide except USA, the feature part 2 also got distribution in post now London. I keep on a low profile on that film because of threats from the President in Rwandan and Uganda, that's a whole other story. Watch the film and you'll understand why. 'Power Struggle' a feature length documentary on renewable energy got Asian distribution and I just got China also. China was a big payday, I did it using the methods I described. I understood your question, and they're all good distributors in the sense that they can distribute your film, but I also assumed you'll want to get a deal too hence my advice.
