Would love some feed back on the mystery of distribution? I've approached investors about a film project and their question was.."what are you going to do with it when it's made?" And I immediately realized my face had turned into a question mark. Can one get a distributor on board before the film is shot? or at least some sort of first look commitment. It seems that most people I have approached want to know where the film will go once its in the can. Thanks
Yes, in some cases you can obtain a letter of interest with conditions. It's a 20% chance though. Many distributors dislike blind film deals but they would jump onboard if you fit the following categories: Established industry leader, attached talent(Names) or have a big budget. Other than that...it's a 80% gamble and a stand off between Investor and distributor demands.
