Hello, I just created a stage32 account recently and was interested in hearing about the type of work editors found, such as low to high budget Film, Television, Documentary or Channel News productions. What kind of work, as a video editor (using FCP or AVID, professionally), can you find on stage32? Also attached is link to a music video I shot and edited. Critics are welcome. https://vimeo.com/83361182 Thanks
never got a single gig from Stage 32... I'm a member of MPE ( picture editor ), CAS, and MPSE.. Most of my work as an editor comes from word-of-mouth and recommendations from past clients.
You know what strikes me funny? What do you care what I edit it on? As long as the export fits your needs. Not you, You. But those who require a certain platform to edit their stuff. The only caveat would be more then one editor where assets and Time lines are being shared on a project. No gigs here for me. But am kinda of a factual guy, and we all know what JN said; "You can't handle the truth!" I have found that (at least thus far) that they really do not want an editor here. More like, most want to shove their hand up your ass and make an editor puppet out of you. Where they sit next to you hand on shoulder, halitosis on their breath and say; "Right there.. cut it and put this scene in." Really are you sure...? You do not want 17 frames there only 15? LOL Please enjoy the humor. Have fun it is a good place to visit, read others knowledge, take some and leave some.

a lot of companies require an editor to be able to edit on a specific platform, because that platform is the one they own and the editor will be editing at their facility and not at home... IF you can edit, and you can read a manual, you can probably be "at speed" in a couple days for a basic editorial project. If its a significant technical edit it may require more time. It does pay to learn the basics of AVID, FCP, and PREMIER so that you can at least work on all three.

To answer your original question, there is a stage 32 success stories section. That may be a good place to go to see if editors are finding work.
