Does anyone know of any good grant systems for someone based in the North East of England UK, over 40 and male. I say this because everytime I look, most grants are aimed at students, under a certain age, women film makers or in the USA/Canada. I am desperate to make a documentary/film based on my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibro Myositis and Restless Arm Syndrome. The reason for this is I still find people do not recognise any of the above as an actual illness/disability. I want to express (in detail) exactly what it is I suffer to make people aware. I have suffered major issues with pass jobs and managers who feel I make it up or am just lazy. I have worked all my life (as well as doing my film making). It was not until I had an accident at work which left permanent damage that I developed the CFS/RAS as well as heart complications. CFS is horrible. I fight it every day and every day I feel worn out with it. I won't quite... ever however I want people to understand what it is like. It is a disability and is an illness. If anyone knows of any help I can get I would be hugely appreciative as this is so important to me. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks Regina, I did try these before but not for this particular documentary. Problem I got was similar to others - I am not young enough, a student etc. I will certainly give it another look though.
Try to contact the Council and ask if they know anyone to put you in touch with. It doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!
Wayne don't know if it is any use to you but Hull council are creating a database of freelance videographers and photographers closing date for applications 8th August. I think it's because they are this year's city of culture. Whereas it won't directly fund your project. It might assist raising your profile in the North East and allow you to network with people who might just be interested in your project.... Closing date for the list is 8th August I think. Let me know if you are interested and I'll dig out the relevant contact details..

Thanks for that Michael. I am willing to try anything Michael as I want as many people to understand the illness. I will certainly give it a look.
