Is a Website Advisable for Crowdfunding?

As I posted below, I’m launching a crowdfunding project for my horror movie ‘She Lives Again’ in the new year.

Do you think a website is an advisable thing to have for a crowdfunding project? I have a website for www.KillerEyesMovie.com for my female-led action movie that has been around for a couple of years and, OK, I haven’t done a crowdfunding adventure for that, but still I’m not sure it’s been too useful.

I actually love creating websites, but feel I have to be more efficient and productive with my creations now.

What’s your experience?

Thanks.

You should look into equity crowdfunding on websites like Wefunder.com , There are several movies that have raised some decent sized budgets while simultaneously building a following and looking at those campaigns will give you a good idea of what you may want to offer as perks if you decide to offer perks.

I agree with Willem. No one cares about the website until (maybe) the film is completed. Seriously, think about a recent movie you wanted to see. Did you go to the website? Nope. You went to Youtube to watch the trailer and maybe the FB page. Focus more on leveraging your social media. You can create a FB page for free and use it as a hub for your crowdsourcing that will help your crowdfunding. I have a site for my last short film. I'm considering taking it down because I get more traffic on the FB page and Twitter account. Lesson learned.

Thanks guys! Funnily enough, I have a cousin with your exact name, Andrew. Yes I’m not bothering with the websites much, and have an account on Instagram for She Lives Again. Will check out Wefunder, haven’t heard of that one.
