I recently came across this clip of legendary filmmaker M Night Shyamalan discussing how he self-funds his films nowadays.
What I took from this is how powerful M Nights personal branding is. He's able to make a safe bet on himself because he's put so much effort into making his name synonymous with an exciting and unexpected movie-going experience.
