Cliff, I am a student at the LAFS as well. Let me know how the Go Fund Me works. I just learned of it the other day and I am thinking of making a fundraiser as well.
Gregory: Glad to meet you. So far, it is going slowly with only 1 donation so far. I have been promoting it on social media and via emails. If you have friends / family who will invest in you, with money or shares / re-posts, you should do well. How long have you been enrolled? Are you an online student, or do you attend classes on campus? Which program are you in? I am an online student working on my Digital Filmmaking degree. I originally enrolled last September, but dislocated my hip and had to suspend my enrollment till now. I just restarted with the Digital Literacy class, taught by Peter Francis (I was in Trish Persen's class last year). Break-A-Leg, Cliff
I started LAFS last November for Digital Filmmaking (online). Sorry to hear about your hip but good to know you're on the mend. It is an expensive prospect going to school. Definitely a major decision to make when considering funding for it because no matter what school you come out of, you're not guaranteed any job at all and the job(s) you do get won't keep you afloat either. Maybe for the lucky few I guess...Good luck! Greg
I recently used GoFundMe for a non-entertainment emergency -- a my daughter's house in Kansas burned down. GoFundMe was easy too use, and got results quickly. I raised over $3000 for my daughter's family in just two weeks. It's very user-friendly. I recommend it highly.
Hey Cliff, this is Julie from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Financing / Crowdfunding to Your Stage, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!
