Hey all! I'm a sound design student starting the latter half of my program. I graduate in December. I'm starting to build up enough examples to get them into a portfolio but I'm not quite sure how to go about making it. I've seen people use websites, vimeo, youtube, facebook pages, and lots of other methods.
My question is, what is considered the most effective type of portfolio for sound? Website with youtube links? Just a youtube channel?

i think, youtube channel and soundcloud.com channel should be good for you. if you would like to send somebody url with your protfolio, is good to have one website where you got your work in one place. it doesnt looks good (for me personaly) if you send somebody link to your work like this: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvNLmp5wBdSVFvXtiQ6TA or https://www.youtube.com/channel/presleyhynes if you are thinking in seo language. Much better is www.presleyhynes.com or www.djpresley.com :) but this is most about image. I know many audio guys, who have their sound work just on soundcloud.com.
Thanks jakub! I might stick with YouTube more than sound cloud, and have them embedded on a website. A lot of what I'm doing is visual oriented, as it's sound design rather than music, mainly.

Not exactly what you'd call a pretty link, but here's an example of some sound design I did, as well as a music edit for a trailer. I'm doing all of this while in school, so the examples are given to us by our instructors.

I use Vimeo for my reel. Then, get a Wordpress type account (free) and use that as the portfolio presentation. Link the Vimeo video to the Wordpress. Anyone think that's a bad idea?
