Hello all, I'm Iain.
Having spent years working as a 1st AD, bringing other peoples' ideas to life, I'm starting a new phase of my career in films.
Being a 1st AD is great, I have had some incredible experiences (credits on profile), but sometimes, for me, it feels a bit like you're a hired gun. In, job done, out. Most recently I've been working as a Creative Director in advertising, pitching ideas, treatments, and developing scripts before heading into production, and I've loved being part of that process. To see a project from conception to completion is a real privilege and something I wish to continue. I work with production companies week in week out, but would like the opportunity to help produce something amazing from scratch.
I'd love to connect with scriptwriters, directors and producers. I am also available to look through scripts and give detailed feedback (no charge, but also no promises of getting them in front of anyone who can make things happen), as my years as a Creative Director have been focused on script development and story concepts.

Any person who is able to be a competent AD and gets enjoyment out of it has my never-ending admiration. I've been a 1st AD in a couple projects and I honestly think it's probably the most important job on set, it's the difference between chaos and a positive environment. Now that I'm moving toward a writer-director career, I'm always way more picky about my ADs than I am about my cinematographers or production designers!

Jose Eduardo Penedo it's a job that, on occasion, has been something that I wouldn't wish on anyone, but those days are a rarity, and simply go towards making me better at the role. And a happy set is vital! It becomes more apparent with every job, that everyone needs to be firing on all cylinders to create the best work. One wobbly or unreliable part, and the wheels can quickly come off. Thanks for the warm welcome.

@Iain welcome, you're right that if there's just one person on set who's not passionate about the project it can cause the whole house of cards to collapse. I hope you collaborate on some cool films "from scratch" with some of us here.

Greetings my fellow artists and admirer of THE CRAFT. I admire your courage Iain. I must confess that I am not experienced in film, music , directing or producing. BUT I do have a great deal of friends that are. Famous actors/actresses, writers, directors, singers, musicians....And my introduction to STAGE32, was by 1 such person. [this individual has 2 oscars]
As time allows me, I will share more background and engage in real dialogue with whom ever.
