Introduce Yourself : Greetings to all! Collaboration - did you experience that? by Andrey Savchenko

Greetings to all! Collaboration - did you experience that?

I am making my first steps in screenwriting and I am excited to be part of the community where screenwriters from all around the globe can socialize and communicate with each other. I know that some of you have achieved success as solo screenwriters but I am very curious about the possibility of collaboration. I understand that established/recognized authors are concentrated on writing/polishing/pitching their own scripts and less interested in other projects but I would love to hear your thoughts.

Have you ever tried to collaborate with other screenwriters?

Positive or negative experience?

I just want to get a better understanding what the word "collaboration" means in reality among screenwriters and if it is possible to collaborate successfully or not.

Array and Brandon, thank you for your comments.

I guess the success of collaboration depends from different factors, including the genre of particular screenplay, unique balance of daily regular life/hours available for screenwriting and basic trust to each other. I understand that collaborators will always have different levels of experience and skills and there will be a measurement of work involved from different partners. To me the most important things is to be sparked/driven by the story you are working on and if there is no mutual enthusiasm then any collaboration has less chances for success. You can pay for it help/collaboration but still you won't get the best results...

Brandon,

So your collaboration did no go beyond just sharing the ideas, correct?
