Introduce Yourself : Hello by Tony McKenna

Hello

Hello.  I am looking for screenwriters or film directors to turn my first novel, The Dying Light, into a film.  It was published by New Haven in 2017.  I wrote it as a film because thats how i saw it in my head. If anyone likes the plot and can help me turn it into a film please let me know and i can send you a digital review copy.    The blurb reads:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      "London 1940. A city of darkness, a city of blackout, where every night bombs fall from the sky. Amid the devastation of the war-torn capital, some children have fallen through the gaps. Homeless, lost – they take refuge below ground, in the tube network; they survive by coming together in an abandoned station, forging out a life, in a world beneath the world. Eleven-year-old Daniel discovers this magical, subterranean city of children; he shares in its wonders and dreams, making both friends and enemies along the way. But the existence of the children is both precarious and fragile. Some of them begin to disappear. Others are found dead – laid out on the tracks. The children whisper stories about a supernatural being haunting the tunnels. The question abides: Are they alone or is there something down in the darkness with them?"https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dying-Light-Tony-McKenna/dp/1910705888

Thanks for your kind comment Kay. I will definitely try to be more 'proactive' on the site as i look forward to meeting other writers, film makers ect, and this seems like a great place to do that.

Amy Balcomb

Hi Tony - I wish you loads of luck getting your book to the screen. I'm a composer and would love to discuss your project.

David C. Velasco

Interesting premise! Having converted one of my books to script I can understand the challenge.

Tim Bragg

How close does the book resemble your script and how many pages is the script?

Tony McKenna

Thank you Amy Balcomb . Would definitely like to discuss that with you and to know more about your work, i think music is such a key coponent of film.

Tony McKenna

Thank you David C. Velasco . Was that book Futurecast? it looks really interesting, I like science fiction.

Tony McKenna

Tim Bragg - Hi Tim. I dont have a script - just the novel, I wouldnt feel compotent enough to write it as a script as i have never done that type of writing before, but I do think the novel has a 'filmic' feel.

Jodi Rath

Tony McKenna nice to see another novel writer here. I'm with you--I'm currently learning script software and figuring out how to write a script.

Phil Clarke

Welcome, Tony. Happy to chat anytime. Feel free to message.

Scott Sawitz

Tony... I've adapted one novel already, if you want to chat feel free to reach out.

Tim Bragg

Tony. I wish you well with it.

Tim Bragg

Have you considered entering your book into book competitions. Screen Craft and Book Pipeline take winning submissions and adapt them into film?

Tony McKenna

Tim Bragg thanks Tim, Ill definitely check those out!

@David. You would think both formats would compliment each other, but I have that same problem with one of my books, it is easier to explain the story in the book than it is in a script.

Karen "Kay" Ross

No worries, Tony McKenna, or as my friend Leah would say, "Do you, boo!" Great to have you here!
