Introduce Yourself : My way of saying hi by Matthew Yturralde

My way of saying hi

INT. DORM ROOM- LOWER EAST SIDE-DAY

MATTHEW sits at his desk staring at his laptop. His computer is cradled on either side by final assignment papers, books, and an empty coffee cup in need of a refill. He's finally signed up for Stage 32. All that's left is to introduce himself to the community. The voice in his head speaks.

MATTHEW (V.O.)

Am I just gunna say hi?

He begins typing.

MATTHEW

Hey Stage 32 Fam!

He deletes what he wrote and buries his head into his hands.

MATTHEW

What am I gunna say? Hey everyone I'm a film student in NYC. I want to be a screenwriter, director, producer...Yeah, you and everyone else.

He rubs his hands on his face and turns, staring out the window at Brooklyn.

MATTHEW (V.O.)

Want to be? If you say you want to be something aren't you shorting yourself? You've written, directed, and produced. Not professionally but you've done it.

He whips his attention back towards the computer. Minimizing Stage 32's webpage, he opens his screenwriting software.

MATTHEW (V.O.)(CONT'D)

Original...witty, but they might hate it...I'll do it anyways.

Matthew begins typing.

MATTHEW

Hey Stage 32 Family! I am a film student in NYC. I found out about Stage 32 through the Youtube channel Film Courage and I had to see what this was all about. How did I not know about this resource sooner! I can't wait to collaborate and contribute on this platform. I am really looking forward to taking advantage of the script coverage and consulting resources. Since the desert island movies are currently disabled I will list mine here in no specific order. They are Fargo, Pulp Fiction, Se7en, Blade Runner, Moonrise Kingdom, The Wizard of Oz, Sleepy Hollow, The Exorcist, The Dark Knight, and Disney's Pinocchio.

He sits back and proof reads his writing. He moves the script over to Stage 32's Introduce Yourself page. Of course the formatting doesn't transfer properly. Oh well. Post.

FADE OUT.

Allen Lynch
