Seed has been planted

Whats going on everyone new to the site still getting the feel for things...

I am a student at my local college for graphic design, we have one small class on premiere and video editing and I have caught a serious bug. So I have so much excitement to start creating something new. I do have a question though. I want to run in head first but know I need to start slow and just creat before I buy gear. What are some good practices as a beginner to help me grow as a film artist?

Shia Shabazz Smith

Hi Greyson! Welcome and congratulations on tossing your hat into the ring! In terms of your question on practices, while I am not an editor, in general, I would say STUDY, STUDY, STUDY! Watch films with the eye of an editor/artist/creative. Look for things that you LOVE and things you want to avoid. Read the credits of films and learn who does what in your area of interest. See who is winning what (awards) and watch movies to investigate why.
