Introduce Yourself : Storyboard Artist ready to sketch! by Douglas Brown

Storyboard Artist ready to sketch!

Hello all, I hope you've been staying safe. I'm a storyboard artist/ graphic illustrator who has been drawing for as long as I can remember. I'm based in Austin, but thanks to the interwebs, I can reach out and work with anyone, anywhere. Now with Zoom and screen sharing, doing "face to face" is even easier! I've done mostly commercials, a couple of short films, and turned several scripts into graphic novels. I'm ready to move up to a feature.

I'm also interested in turning my graphic novel into something more. Finding a publisher would be the first step, but my endgame has always been to move this story to a streaming service.

I look forward to meeting you all, and possibly working with together when the world finally re-opens.

Hey Douglas, so thrilled to have you and your talents here! I know in some of our webinars people have been looking for someone with storyboarding experience, so if there's anyone in my network who needs this help, please reach out to Douglas!

Also, not sure if you caught my webinar with Conrad Vernon (Director of The Addams Family, Sausage Party, etc.), but he is an AWESOME storyboarder and he goes through a scene from the Addams Family from story board to full animation. If you're interested in checking it out for inspiration, it's here: https://www.stage32.com/webinars/Masters-of-Craft-Conrad-Vernon-Sausage-...

Hey, Douglas Brown! My name is Kay, I'm the Community Manager here at Stage32. Nice to meet you! Wow, what great work! What genre do you think your style best serves? Drama or comedy? Adult or kids?

There was a conversation recently about Pre-vis and storyboarding, but I can't remember if it was in the Animation (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/animation) or the Filmmaking (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing) Lounges - I'd love for you to jump in on both and start a conversation about your experience and your interest in features.

If you'd like more information about how to explore the Lounges to meet more members and network, please enjoy my most recent blog post:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect!

Thanks Karen and Amanda! I think my style would lend itself well to drama or action. The clean line art style I have would be good for rendering expressions. And action... who doesn't love a good car chase?

I'll check the links you sent.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Awesome, thanks Douglas Brown! Yeah... it's hard to beat a good car chase :D
