The 'Original' Betty Badass

Hi everyone. I'm Amy Michalik, a recently retired Federal Agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives with a UCLA Screenwriting Education. Interesting combo, I know. I'm working on polishing a TV Pilot and a feature film. I also wrote & directed a short film but haven't put it out there to the festival circuit yet. Looking forward to e-meeting as many of you as I can!

Hello Amy, My name is Linda Scarlett. I am a screenwriter in Portland, Oregon. What a great background! I bet you have interesting stories. Can you tell me more about your work?

Amy Sue Michalik

My LE work or my writing work?

Linda Scarlett

Your writing work. But sometime I would love to hear everything! What is the short film you created about?

Amy Sue Michalik

Of course - I've had two stories published in an Anthology called "Women Warriors: Stories from the Thin Blue Line" that came out in 2012. Most of my work is law enforcement related - my pilot is called SHOOT - about a celeb/fashion photog who finds out her father was an assassin when he goes missing and decides to pick up the family biz. Another is Plata o Plomo about the plight of a Mexican Cop who wouldn't take the Cartel's bribe and had to flee to the US. My short is about lesbian speed dating :)

All your writing sounds fantastic!

Amy - you are a badass, awesome to have you here! I went to check out some of your work but didn't see any of it on your profile...you should definitely upload your reels and your loglines so we know more about what you do! Here's some tips on how to do that: https://www.stage32.com/blog/The-Most-Important-Page-on-Stage-32 So glad to have you in the Stage 32 community, welcome to your new "family".

Dig the photo and the spirit. I'll echo Julie's thoughts...Definitely worth filling out that profile! The more you share, the easier you make it for people to understand where you've been and where you're hoping to go. Good luck!
