Introduce Yourself : Writer and MFA candidate by Amy E. Mahon

Hey, everyone! I'm a screenwriter who specializes in short scripts and sketch comedy. I started off in theatre, which is what I studied in undergrad. Afterwards I had an amazing career in theatre/arts education and taught children ages 3-14. I always wanted to work in comedy so I started taking improvisation and sketch comedy classes. I've filmed two of my sketches that I wrote in the Second City Online Program, which opened the door for me to work with others as a sketch writer and filmmaker. I completed the Professional Program in Screenwriting at UCLA and am working on an MFA in Film-TV with an emphasis on Script and Screenwriting. Currently I am a Reader for the Austin Film Festival and am working on other projects and possible final internship opportunities as I get ready for my last semester. My goal is very similar to others - I want to write and produce good, funny content. As goofy as I can be - and I can be a total weirdo - I am very serious about my craft. I have zero patience for people who are are unprofessional. I have very high standards and have been lucky to find other no-nonsense people who I like working with and whose work I admire. I'm not one of those students who relies on school to hand me everything, I work and even train outside of my university. I'd love to network, grow, teach, and work with other people on here, especially those who are in South Florida. Thanks for reading my introduction!
