I am not sure if this is the correct area to post but I need to start somewhere. I am currently finishing up a pilot that extends on a show made in the late 1990s. I am introducing new characters and story lines while utilizing the world previously created and some of the main characters from the original show will make an appearance. I know who the 2 show creators of the original show are.
Ideally I want the original creators to join me on this project.
How do I go about seeking rights to use their original characters? Does anyone know or can you point me in the direction of legal help in this area? Are there examples of emails and templates of how to start a conversation like this respectfully?
