I made my "Kata, the Iron Thorn" screenplay into a Kata novel and will be out shortly!

I made my "Kata, the Iron Thorn" screenplay into a Kata novel and will be out shortly! My name is Terry Lee Barrett. I am an award-winning Terry Lee Barrett. I was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am the son of the world-renowned anthropologist Reverend Dr. Leonard E. Barrett, Sr, and my wonderful mother, Theodora Jackson-Barrett.

I am an award-winning Philly DJ, journalist, and radio personality.

When I was a kid, my mom and dad took me to big adventure movies like "Ben Hur," "The Vikings," and a Sidney Poitier starring movie called "The Long Ships." My father noticed my interest in adventure movies. He told me about the real-life history of Jamaican warriors in the 17th century that fought bravely against slavery, greed, ignorance, and prejudice.

After listening to these stories in rapped attention immediately, I thought to myself, I want to write a story about those warrior's adventures in Jamaica. And I've done just that, and it's called Kata, the Iron thorn. So I wrote an epic fantasy set in the modern-day but reflects back to 1655, Jamaica, when Kata and his wife Iyadola ruled Kata Cove. Kata is a family-friendly, action-adventure, and afro-centric superhero story designed for all ages.

Hey Terry, this is Karen from the Stage 32 team. I just wanted to let you know I moved your post from Authoring & Playwriting to Introduce Yourself, as it fits much better there. Let me know if you have any questions, and all the best to you!

Kinney Scott

Terry Lee Barrett

That's David Hahn's art, I told him what to draw. I think he got it right too, Kinney!

Rhonda R Fletcher

It sounds amazing, can not wait to read!

Martin Reese

That is so cool Terry Lee Barrett. Gotta read it. What's happening with the screenplay? Are you pitching it?

Terry Lee Barrett

Well, Martin, some producers know about it and have shown interest but no one has sent me a contract yet. Do you know anyone who might be interested? Please advise. Thanks for your interest.

Christian Nommay

This looks very cool!

Hi Terry Lee Barrett while I don't know anyone per se I would advise that you look throughout the site for opportunities to pitch that come up all the time. I would also advise that you contact Jason Mirch Director of Script Services (j.mirch@stage32.com) who is very knowledgeable and helpful. He can advise you on how to proceed. I would think that since you're about to have a book out that means existing IP and should be helpful. In terms of pitching on this platform I have pitched and gotten script requests so I'm not suggesting something that I myself haven't tried.
