Story Themes

Let’s talk about story themes.

What are your favorite themes to explore?

I’ll go first.

Here are the sci-fi themes I love discovering:

Biology meets the cosmos

Neuroscience

AI topics

Disability awareness

Planetary apocalypse and terraforming

Parallel universes

Beauty-standards criticism

Futurism and technology

Time exploration

Each world attempts to explore one theme—or several different themes—from this list.

Maurice Vaughan

I like those themes, Meriem Bouziani. Here's some of my favorite themes:

– Family

– Ask for help and accept help when you need it

– Think before you act

– Anti-bullying

Thank you very much Maurice Vaughan

Your themes are great as well.

I also enjoy exploring anti-bullying themes—they are so important in the society.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Meriem Bouziani. Thanks. I think there needs to be more anti-bullying movies, shows, etc.

I have three stories that revolve around bullying and related themes Maurice Vaughan

Each one approaches the subject from a different perspective:

The Disabled Puzzle, Rusha and Heidi’s experience / The Prebirth Myth / Eugenia Kallistia.

Let’s hope they get their chance one day.

I hope so, Meriem Bouziani. I also like to write about trust.

Meriem Bouziani

yes that's a good theme as well Maurice Vaughan

James LO

the persistence of memory

I’ve written 6 stories thinking they were about other things but in the end realised they could all go into a collection by that title

That sounds so good James LO

Even when a story explores many themes at once, there is always one major guiding theme behind it.

James LO

meriem, have you written any short story or screenplay about times travel or parallel worlds from the lens of human existence that you would care to share? I’d be happy to swap with one of my unpublished tales revolving around the persistence of memory

Meriem Bouziani

I have the idea but it’s not written yet.

It’s called The De-Evolution Game: Paradoxes Unleashed.

You can see some insights about it here James LO
