2021 is the Year

Good Afternoon All.

Kay stopped by my homepage and ask if I would share a photo of my new studio I just completed. It took me about a year to design and create, adding all the little fiddly-bits, but when I walk into write or create now, I feel I've step into my own little world. My basic intent is to be able to produce sizzle reels for proof of concepts as I complete my writing projects. There's another space adjacent to the one pictured where narrations, vocals, and other elements can actually be recorded. I do play piano so I have a Yahama DGX-660 in there as well. Would love to hear your comments and if you'd like to chat or whatnot, feel free to stop by and drop me a note.

Here's to all our success in 2021.

Oooo, I LOVE this space! What screen did you go with up top for playback? Is it adjusted for color?

Vanessa M. Chattman

Thanks for wishing me luck on my pitch session

Anthony Pennington

Good luck with the pitch Vanessa...

Leya Marincic

Very nice editing bay and good luck. :)

By the way what do you edit in?

Anthony Pennington

Hi Kay. The screen is made by ELEMENT ( a US based company which, for the price, is really good). Used Disney WOW DVD, so not a terribly expensive process, but looks great. Then using Adobe Premiere Rush, it works great for my purposes. I've started building a select group of artists that really "get" what I'm after when it comes to key art, so just plugging away to make things happen.

BTW - I'm also working on a music track to go with a reel right now so that's this weekend's project. Have the basic music and lyrics... will be auditioning some guitar riffs and eventually the right group to actually record the song. Wish me luck folks. Best. T

Hi Leya. Using the Adobe Suite. Works well with the new PC. Had it built by Magic Micro. They did a really nice job.

Vanessa M. Chattman

Thank you very much.

Oh very nice. Well a few years back my partner and I invested in a beefed up workstation too and it works great. But we also left the Adobe Suite behind and now work mostly in Davinci Resolve and it's great.

Here's a picture my editing bay that I had in our apartment. Of course not dedicated only for editing since it was in our living room.

Looks good. Way back (when I was running XP) I got introduced to Premiere. Was doing some safety videos for JPL. So we have some history and I suppose I just stuck with it. I've got the Abobe subscription and really like Photoshop (need to improve my AF skills though) so kind of keeps it seamless. I have to admit I'm a bit like a kid when I'm editing though. My passion is writing, but I love putting the pieces of the puzzle together and watching the story "emerge".

Anthony Pennington I also started on Premiere but then a few years ago we bought the Blackmagic Pocket 4K camera and got Davinci along with it and it's been great. Much better colorgrading abilities. As for Photoshop I use it too a lot but never did get the hang of AfterEffect, it's more my partner's department but I think he has also transitioned to Fusion now which is an even bigger mistery to me.

But after all these are only tool and the main focus is to create something and I am cinematographer and I love shooting but I also enjoy editing what we shoot together and getting that story out of it. It's really a nice experiance.
