Directing Lab?

Hey, Stage32 Editors!

I'm sure you all know more than most that editing is the final stage of directing - and often under-appreciated. BUT, what if filmmakers are coached through the editing phase? What if editors learned about directing? What have you learned about post-production collaborations? Share below!

Also, definitely check out our next Directing Lab, which includes a post-production section: https://www.stage32.com/happy-writers/classes/Fundamentals-Of-Directing-...

The most important thing I've learned about editing is never to trust anyone else to do it.

That is the saddest lesson I've ever heard! I wonder if some part of that lesson is learning how to coordinate post-production as effectively as we do production. I've always thought it was such a rip-off that the production crew gets free meals/crafty with their day rate and editors do not.

I had the chance to work with a fantastic editor on my movie this past year. Jeffrey Wolf, A.C.E./A.M.P.A.S. Can't say enough good things. One of the highlights of my career. The movie is being released this Valentine's Day weekend. Anyone who under-appreciates what a good editor really brings to the game, doesn't really understand filmmaking.
