Post-Production : Editor Reel by Sarah Furie

Editor Reel

Hello, I am an assistant editor in the industry and I edit things on the side. My question is...should I have two reels? One an editing reel and another just pieces of shows I have worked on? Would anyone ever want to see a reel of what an assistant editor worked on since they didn't edit any of the pieces? Any tips for putting these together so it also shows your editing skills? The hard part is when the things you edited are so different and are weird to be put next to each other. Thanks.

Hello Sara, I like the idea of having two reels so if you got the attention of an employer you have something more to show. In the other hands a reel is more about the credit, like what and how many project you were involved with. Your experiences in general is more important than only your skill in editing. And about putting the things together, personally I don't bother so much to mach different pieces of work together unless I have supper brilliantine idea. Simply putting them next to each other and showing each work for few second with titles will do the job. Good Luck.

Thanks. That is very helpful! Do you have a reel? Can I view yours?

It makes sense to me.
