Post Production Workflow

Hello everyone!

Please can anybody share good articles/podcasts/videos about the post-production workflow? Even any kind of useful information that a future post production supervisor should know and bear in mind.

Thank you very much in advance!

One thing this article does not cover is acquisition of footage. On some of our projects we provide a DIT and / or media manager, or work closely with the one that has been hired as well as your camera department.

Depending on what type of post is happening the production might be better served with input from who ever is doing post.

For example:

On a show we did with multi-cam production, we were able to feed into the conversation for what was best for editorial while choices were still being made in pre pro. This helped us avoid some pitfalls in post and keep the production moving really quickly once it reached post.

Also workflow can change a great deal depending on how long, how many cameras and how visual effects heavy your project is.

What type of project are you posting?

Thanks Ian for the information. That was a really good remark.

I am not working on any project as a post supervisor now, but just wanted to gather some information from post supervisors : )

As a post supervisor you will likely be dealing with budgets and wrangling vendors, clients, getting the deliverables to where they need to be.

Thank you Ian!
