Hi all!
I´m looking for new alternatives for remote work as a video editor, any suggestion?
So far I use Upwork and manages to find a direct contact from my website. Now I´m trying to ´´expand´´ and find new project sources.
Any recommendations?
Thanks!
Hi Alfonsina, i worked on upwork in past. I think it's best freelancing service on web. You can try some work for video editing companies like http://proeditors.com/ but there is not so much money for that videos i think around 25$ for 1 short video. Expanding is always hard work so I wish you success and good luck in your journey. ;)
Thumbtack is a similar platform to Upwork. I've hired freelancers from both platforms.
Also try Mandy.com. They've revamped the website. I have not used the new version yet.
Craigslist under gig/talent I see a few.
We usually hire from craiglists or word of mouth. Hardly ever remote editors though. Especially not if its a project that is of scale or has a deadline. The other creatives on the project often want access to the editor so remote is not always an option. Plus the volume of editors in LA county means there is always reason to work locally.
What types of projects do you mostly work on?
Yes Remote editing is the dream for me too, I've sound some interest as companies say its cheaper to have a employee work from home. So I work on freelance sites -tons of little jobs and then to have the one strong stable editing gig as the foundation. I edit at a local busy little tv studio, but the excitement of work coming from online is so much better!
Hollywood Reporter, Variety, Screen International, even right here on stage 32 under "Jobs."
If you use upwork and co, you're cheapening yourself. Plus, you're giving something like ten percent of your earnings to techies who do nothing for you. They don't guarantee that you get paid, they just basically collect a fee. Read the following article for more:

Please join 90sec.com they offer work wordwide
Ive joined 90 sec.com with a rigorous process but they just use their own or old editors, remote video editing is still a fantasy. Getting local work is easier but getting enough to replace your permanent job, therein lies the rub!
