Hello Stage 32 Community! I hope you had a fantastic weekend! I've yet to see CANDYMAN, but I have listened to the soundtrack, and wow, they went "there" So creepy, and I felt a lot of Krzysztof Penderecki (The Exorcist, The Shining, Twin Peaks -2019) style weaved in at times. Slight walls of dissonance, and the wailing of viola's mixed with sound design. https://open.spotify.com/track/6v5xneJbeodWbH0zWisMpb?si=3caff35de0994738
Aside from that observation, it was interesting that they started the post as COVID hit, so they had to adapt in ways you would not think, such as recording ADR in closets with their Iphones. BTW, closets are an amazing alternative to recording ADR, dialog, etc.
It is great we can adapt, and still push on to create and deliver good product. Good things can come from bad situations, and because our human spirit and creative juices are strong!

Huh... I love hearing about how the restrictions of the time shape the craft. Some day, I think they will be comparing this pandemic to Film Noir.

I did a fair number of sound recording in my closet for our last short. And if you don't have a closet, even just hanging some thick blankets up in a corner can work too.
And we even used an iphone tucked into someone's shirt pocket to record dialogue, and this was on a network show. It worked out incredibly well!
