Anybody have any tips for finding / contacting an executive producer?

Hey everyone, In December of 2014, I shot a proof of concept pilot for a sitcom pilot that CBC has some interest in. The one catch was that they wanted a seasoned/experienced executive producer on board. The pilot has since been finished and polished. We have our bible, our episode guide for the first season and 3 finished scripts with more coming out everyday that passes. The problem is how do we properly contact and or find these exec producers. Thoughts? Or should I just be looking for investors at this point to make and then sell the finished season.

Hi Shaun, I'm Los Angeles-based, and I've never done business with the CBC. Given your situation, I'd advise making a list of Cdn producers or senior writers who have strong credibility with the CBC. Then look into your personal network, including college friends, etc., and see if you have have someone introduce you to those producers. You'll want to note that the CBC has already expressed interest to whet their appetites. If you can't get intros, then query Cdn agents who might want to represent your project and help connect the dots for you. Best of luck!

Thanks Regina, I am on that track already, but being new at this end of things it is nice to hear someone corroborate my way of thinking. While I am exploring the CBC people, I can't help but think of the Canadian TV limitations. I might have to shop it around in the States too.

Trust me, TV is challenging in the US unless you have a proven showrunner. We're jealous of you Canadians!

It is the same here, thankfully some of those walls are being broken down via the internet.
