Non comercial rights?

Hello fellow 32ers!!

I have a small question, it might seem obvious to some... but here it is:

I have the non comercial rights of the songs I use in a short. What do I put on the credits instead of the "all rights reserved" ?

Can anyone help me please?

David Trotti

You'll probably still use the phrase "all rights reserved." But the reference won't be your ownership of the rights, but the actual rights holder. An example of a licensed song credit in a film would be"

"NAME OF SONG"

Written by "Name of Writer"

Copyright YEAR "Name of Copyright Owner"

Performed by "Name or artist or band"

Courtesy of "Name of Band's Record Label"

Used by Permission. All rights reserved

There are two separate rights you need to secure, Mechanical and Synch. Both are reflected in the above statement. The Mechanical Rights are the written version of the song and orchestration, owned by the Writer and the Copyright owner. The Synch rights are the version of the song by the Performer and the Company that controls the rights to that cover of the song.

Used by Permission means you secured the proper licenses from the rights holders.

All Rights Reserved means it's still protected from other people using it in any way but the intended use you have licensed it for, which presumably is watching your short film and not copying the music there in for further use.

Thank you very much David for that clarifying response. I'll go and update my credits then.
