So, I have an unscripted series I would love to pitch. Yes, reality shows are very common, but I do believe that now, more than ever, is the time to actually focus on social issues and stories TOLD BY those who are lgbt. However, I am at a lost as to who to pitch to, how to pitch it because of the subject matter. It seems like a 'hot button' topic, but I don't want this to be something that gets tossed aside when some other craze hits the market, ya know? LGBT issues are very important to me and would love to show audiences that these stories are worth listening to.
Is there a space for these types of unscripted series? How about scripted series or films with transgender leads?
Also, will there be more pitch sessions for unscripted series?

Shanika, my first thought is that all projects need the broadest audience possible to be successful, so maybe ask yourself if the storyline / show in question appeals outside LGBTQ+ community and supporters. There certainly is a lot of content out today, and I don't think we will see less or that it's a " craze". On the other hand, I only find it by accident. I just watched the doc on Madonna's Strike A Pose dancers on Netflix ( quite good ), and since, a wealth of LGBTQ+ material has shown up in my "suggestion" feed "because I watched" that doc. Otherwise, I would not have known of those titles. Frankly, as an "old straight dude", I only think of "Priscilla Queen of The Desert", "Transamerica", and "Some Like It Hot", the latter of which isn't even remotely relevant at all, but then that is perhaps what you are up against as a filmmaker... getting to me ( or the younger audience version of me ) with your material in a way where we are affected by your storytelling*. Which I hope you can. (*Unscripted is still scripted storytelling).
