Looking for a Producer for a Spec Commercial Project

Hi Guys,

I am currently based in Vancouver, Canada and work primarily in Visual Effects. I am looking for a producer locally to come on board for a spec commercial project that I wrote and want to direct. I have completed the treatment for it and have a storyboard animatic ready as well.

Since it's mo...

Canada doesn't put out the welcome mat for us film types in the U.S. but we tend to be a little warmer and friendly to you Canadian film folk. Have you thought about coming down to Seattle or Portland?

Sean Kalra

Oh at the moment, I was looking to shoot it locally given the current situation. In the past, I have shot in Los Angeles and have had a good experience as it was easier to put the crew together.

Karen "Kay" Ross

Finding someone locally won't be a problem, in my opinion Sean Kalra. The point you'll need to clarify is what do you need your producer to do? Raise funds, breakdown your script, find a location, hir...

How is everyone coping in this uncertainty?

It's looking like we might be going to Level 5 in Ireland. A film that took me about a year to get off the ground had just been booked and insured for the 1st week of November, 2020. All Covid-19 Regulations catered to. Fully funded, locations booked and ready to rock...and then the levels started d...

I think that's a healthy approach John. I wasn't in a rush. But it was booked and we're pretty close to it. So for me the frustration was in the not knowing with regard to the decision we were waiting on the government to make.

Oh you know, ups and downs. Complete existential crises followed by little bursts of hope. Things in the states are going to be tense until after the election and hopefully not for much longer.

Heather Grogan

Must be terribly stressful over there, Nick. I hope your keeping the mental health in check. Too often we plunge into projects and don't come up for air - take some time for yourself too.

What's Going on With the Agency Exodus?

As hundreds of agents leave the major agencies this year, many are starting up small management firms which could be a big advantage to both represented talent and producers looking to package A-list talent. Here are the opportunities: https://www.filmtvlaw.com/blog/2020/10/5/repping-managers...
