Bragging Rights?

I started two weeks ago and finished my first feature screenplay for 2023 a few minutes before midnight on January 31. This does not include my polishing phase.

What's your accomplishment for the first month of the year?

Jim Boston

Phil, I turned in "Pushing the Envelope" and also emailed a couple of queries to a pair of writers (one's a director, too) who advertised on Screenwriting Staffing.

Still haven't heard yet from the writers...but I'm going to keep on pushing with the journey.

Congratulations to you for finishing your first feature screenplay of 2023...and here's wishing you more of the VERY BEST!

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Jim: definitely keep sending out the query letters. It's a numbers game in the more you send out the better shot you have. Best of luck with your efforts in 2023. And thanks for your support.

Sydney Summers

Congrats!! What a way to start the year :-)

Sam Sokolow

That’s awesome, Phil! Inspiring!

MB Stevens

Great job, Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique . I've finished creating 3D characters for my web series. Now it's time to animate. Onward and upward.

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on your achievements and success, Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique and everyone! :D In Jan., I wrote two short scripts, rewrote scripts (a feature and shorts), pitched projects, received script requests, built industry relationships, and I did a lot of work on a rewriting job and a pitch deck job.

Shellie Schmals

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique - what a way to swing big into the new year!! Congrats!!

Sam Cochran

Nice work, Phil. That's very impressive. I got ACT I done on a high school comedy. I'm really enjoying this story. Risky Business meets American Pie. Can't wait to finish and start marketing it.

Emily J

WOW Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique! That's so awesome, what are your next steps? For me, I meant to do a lot more the first month of the year but ended up needing to take it slow and I think it worked out for the best. Things for February are looking really good and I'm ready to hit the ground running :)

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

David:

Wow! Good job.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Emily J: I'm going to road test it in some contests and film festivals and look for film noir opportunities.

Maria Restivo Glassner

How are you so prolific? Any tips?

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on quitting smoking, Matt!!! And congratulations on being a semifinalist and completing 20 pages! :D

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations, Sam Cochran! "Risky Business" meets "American Pie" sounds fun!

Maurice Vaughan

"For me, I meant to do a lot more the first month of the year but ended up needing to take it slow and I think it worked out for the best." Sometimes we need to take it slow, Emily. Hope you hit the ground running in February like Forrest Gump! :D

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations, David!

Sam Mannetti

Crushing it Phil!!

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Sam:

Having fun.

Jeffrey B. Wayne

Finished a polish of San Francisco Cowboy. The director locked in the casting of the leads and we're on track to start filming next month! Tweaked the pitch deck for The Duke and sent a few shorts to some interested producers.

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on finishing the polish and locking in the casting for "San Francisco Cowboy," Jeffrey! Great to hear an update on "The Duke."

Jeffrey B. Wayne

Maurice Vaughan Thanks!

Wendy Appelbaum

Hey Geoff - congrats to you! What's it about?

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Jeffrey.

William Schumpert

Hundreds of engagements and thousands of impressions for my book ads. Also working an up and coming animation studio that I met here. Can’t work full time at the moment (waiting for SSI) but able to volunteer. Also officially sold over 350 books 7 years.

William Schumpert

And congrats on your effort.

Jeffrey B. Wayne

Wendy Appelbaum After finding out from his dying father that the mother he never met is alive, a 23 year old ranch hand travels to San Francisco to search for her with the help of an unstable taxi driver and a resourceful woman of the night.

Maurice Vaughan

I remember talking to you about "San Francisco Cowboy," Jeffrey. I think it's going to be touching and exciting to watch. I suggest changing "23 year old" to an adjective. The other two characters (the driver and the woman) have adjectives, but the protagonist doesn't have one.

Jeffrey B. Wayne

Maurice Vaughan Good feedback. I'll take another run at it.

Jeffrey B. Wayne

Maria Restivo Glassner I set attainable goals every day whether it's a number of pages, a number of scenes, or at least A scene. I try to make it through a first draft of a feature in a month, subsequent drafts I try to finish in a week. I don't always hit my daily goals, but more often than not I do. Others may be faster, but with my day job, it is what works for me and keeps me consistently completing drafts.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Jeffrey: I like the premise a lot. Though not woke, I'd say prostitute or hooker and save two words.

Jeffrey B. Wayne

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique Understood. We received script feedback from someone who used to be in the profession and of all the terms available, she preferred that one - so we obliged her.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Jed:

It sounds like you're diving in and working hard. Good job!

Jed Power

Jeffry, as an Adoptee I love this take on "the" Search. Best, Jed.

Jed Power

Thanks, Phil.

Alicia Vaughan

Congratulations on finishing your script.

Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique

Alicia:

Thank you.

Martin Reese

Completed my TV pilot.

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on the hundreds of engagements and thousands of impressions for your book ads, William Schumpert! What does "thousands of impressions" mean? :)

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on starting your Drama pilot and pushing harder and smarter on your marketing efforts, Jed!

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on completing your pilot, Martin!

William Schumpert

Maurice Vaughan on social media an impression means people noticed your ad. An engagement means they interacted with it (click on the web site, photo, etc). You’re always going to have more impressions than engagements. Right now my CTR (Click Through Rate) for my books is 6%. Still need to improve.

Maurice Vaughan

Oh ok, William Schumpert. That makes sense. Thanks for explaining.

"You’re always going to have more impressions than engagements." That's kind of like YouTube videos, Vimeo videos, etc. There's always going to be more views than likes.
