Hi Everyone, I just wondered if there are any sites like Stage32 that related to screenwriters who write for children and young adults? There are very few log lines on Stage 32 that relate. Thank you. I hope everyone is well.
I've been on a few film sites, and it seems most writers prefer horror for some reason. I write for children and young adults (short stories, screenplays, and a novel seeking representation), but I don't tend to show my log lines on these sites, preferring to pitch directly to producers and agents when I find them.
What's good, fellas. I'm Shawn. My peeps call me Speake. Three years ago I joined S32 as a bedroom writer. Today I'm a feature extra on LONGMIRE, NETFLIX MOVIES, music vids, leads in independent Denver features, and writing on assignment. I promise you can get just about anything / any intel, right here. Here are some basic training tips from your boy.
(I assume you're here to go pro. Take what you can use and disregard the rest. If you're not -- stop here. Please don't add me to your network.)
Screenwriting is screenwriting is screenwriting. Story craft is just that. Crafting stories regardless of genre. An opening image in a children's story serves the same purpose as the opening image of a movie.
Not pitching material is the biggest mistake made on STAGE32. There's a wealth of KNOWLEDGE FOR FREE. These guys know their shit. You'll get views from all sides. It's the best thing that's happened in my career so far! Posting in the open forums is great for business. I do this on a regular basis. Writers give great feedback and haters are absolutely the very best. If we don't post our ideas, which is just the nucleus and very beginning of a long journey, how are we gonna grow into a pro? A pro can articulate how and why he builds stories to other pros. Start with the open forums. Let ego go and feelings go -- and grow. Grow, jigga!
Let me see that logline or ask me some questions. I work for you. Thank S32:) What you got?!
