Anyone interested in reading my new screenplay? It's been registered by the WGAE and it comes with a fan-made mock-up poster!

Doug Nelson

Sorry but I'm out west; I'm not permitted to read scripts registered with WGAe, only those registered with WGAw. Just spoofin' you.

Monica Mansy

Hi, Cody! Congrats on the completion of your script! Have you checked out the "Script Services" tab here on Stage 32? I've submitted here to an Industry Reader and the notes I received back were amazing! After receiving notes, I knew what worked, what didn't, etc. You can also receive (and give) some amazing notes in our script coverage in the Writers' Room we hold every other Monday. Some other perks to the Writers' Room - table reads, pitch practice, break out zoom cafes to write, the opportunity to pitch to working executives and so much more! Oh, did I mention: you can try it out for a free month! Just email Jason Mirch (j.mirch@stage32.com), the Director of Script Services, and he'll get you all set up!

Hanna Strauss

I watched an indie movie with this exact same premise on Tubi that was produced a few years ago.

Doug Nelson

Not.

Hanna Strauss

The movie on Tubi is called "Cougar Hunting".(2011)Young guys go to Aspen, Colorado to mooch off horny older rich women. Have fun watching it. It sucked

Cody MacGrath

Hey, Hanna. I bet COUGAR HUNTING did suck. Granted, it's not a horror satire and it's a very different premise than what I got here. Plus, it wasn't made by a big studio, so of course a lot of people never heard of it.

Cody MacGrath

Not what, Doug?

Doug Nelson

Read my profile. I connect & network with very few, or only if they are in my neighborhood. (I wish folk would read profiles prior to sending 'invites'.)

Hanna Strauss

Mr. Nelson. Since I too am a "boomer", I think I have the license to interject on your commentary and state" lighten up". The internet is everyone's neighborhood now and we no longer have to restrict ourselves geographically. Jeesh...

Richard Buzzell

Cody - I looked at your script. I think it starts too slowly. I'd suggest starting it at page 23, and then filling in any of the introductory info after that. Also I'd suggest some suspense before revealing the evil intentions of the Cougars. Give Jake some time to try to figure out what's really going on in this too good to be true scenario.

Doug Nelson

Hanna, actually I'm a 'war baby'; before you boomers. But even at my age, I'm still involved in filmmaking and tv production (I have a modest cable show). When the Covid veil finally lifts I'll return to teaching (screenwriting & DSLR filmmaking) and film production. I need students and crew. That's why I restrict myself to 'local' only - they are the folks I work with on set.
