I need to change the space between sentences from one space to two spaces. Does anyone here know how to do that in Final Draft? Also is it possible to change half way through the script or do I have to manually make those changes? Any help would be appreciated.

Dan: choose Format>Spacing and you're then presented euth options such as 1, 1.5, 2. If you do this on a new doc then it should apply to the entire doc. Likewise you can simply highlight existing text then change the spacing just for that text.
Thanks Pierre. I tried that. I hate Final Draft! Anyway I will try reloading it and see if that works. I am writing a screenplay with the actress/director and she uses double space and I use single. By any chance do you use FD9? That is what I use and I was thinking about upgrade to FD10. I don't care about the money but I don't want to get it if there are no changes.
Actually I use an older version, FD8. I haven't seen a need to upgrade yet.
Pierre, Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
Thanks for the reply Claude. I know how to use FD and use it but I don't like using it. I am still having a problem getting it to leave two spaces between sentences. I know Movie Magic comes with two spaces as the default and in Final Draft one space is the default. It is easy to change in Movie Magic but for some reason I can't seem to change it in Final Draft. I really don't have a preference but the Director I am writing the script with uses two spaces. I guess I could ask her. Again thanks for responding.
Hi Dan, Have you tried the Final Draft help desk? They're usually pretty quick to respond. Cheers, Paul
Paul. Thanks! I think I will try that.
2 spaces between scene headings is the default for FD (as it should be) if you need double spaces with a body of action you go to format space before on a case by case or you can go to elements and then choose action (or whatever element it is) and go into paragraph -- there you have the option of line spacing.
Claude - 2 spaces not only makes the script a MUCH easier read, it affects how the script is broken down for production. Without getting too mathmatical, a script page is shot (and budgeted) by 1/8th's the double space is used for breaking it down for production.
Claude. My version FD9 is coming up one space after each sentence. My Movie Magic default is two spaces between sentences. Two was always the standard but it seems a lot of screenplays nowadays are using one space. Like Laurie said I think two spaces makes the script easier to read. I have done breakdowns and it can effect the page count to some degree. Obviously you never want to come up too short because it is harder to add scenes than to cut them. Anyway the main reason I want to change one space between scenes to two is because the producer/director I am working with is two. She got her start in television where I think two spaces is really common. Anyway since I am one of the producers nobody can fire me at least not at this stage of the game.
The old standard of double spacing is from the typewriter days and is no longer taught in keyboarding. Computer fonts are designed to read fine w/o double spacing, so it is standard to single space after a period. In fact I learned that double spacing dates a person - so I quit doing it. :)

Roxanne. Thanks that is good to know. I will probably just stick with the single space and director obliviously knows how to change it if she wants to do so.
I'm using Celtx and Fadein. The mobile app. I just apply the space as I would in writing. The softwares document spell check takes care of slip up...spacing etc.
I can't use Celtx or Fadein but good to know.
Fade In is a very solid, user-friendly, inexpensive program!
Dan, as an olde tyme writer I'm conditioned to insert double spaces between sentences but for line spacing, I just stick to the FD default (there is an option under Format that goes from very tight to loose - I just stay with regular. I just tested it on a script I'm working on now. Regular to very tight condensed 25 pages to 22. I'm unaware of any default that inserts two spaces between sentences.
Claude, Celtx is a panic maker. Recently decided to enter my spec for consult and competitions. Preparing pdf in Fadein was an abc process. Select file, click create pdf, select page count and preferences in pop-up box ...done,
Celtx on the other hand took me through the ringer. Celtx support sent me a guide which looks nothing like my system. The desktop
app and studio has a different set up to do pdf. Tried them all and though I selected page counts it saved all pages.
Luckily pdf in preview allows add/delete, so I thumbnail and deleted 40 pages to get get my 25 page count.
Celtx support is 24-48 hrs, Fadein is prompt.
