Screenwriting : I found the WAY TO GET REPP’ED! by Colette "ByFilms" Byfield

I found the WAY TO GET REPP’ED!

Hi all, usually I’m in the Crowdfunding/Film Financing Lounge but I decided to visit Screenwriting Lounge today to give you an important message.

Many Writers want to find a manager and/or agent and that’s fine. But some of you are overlooking an easy way to find representation. Want to know what it is???

As a Professional Screenwriter, you should be reading the trades every single day! Every time a Writer gets a deal, Variety and Hollywood Reporter publish the name of the manager and agency! Many writers start out with smaller or “boutique” agencies before moving on to bigger ones. All you have to do is write down the name of these smaller agencies and see if you will be a good fit.

Of course, it’s their decision to accept you as a client but it makes more sense to try for a smaller agency that has already represented a Writer whose work you admire, especially if you write similar work.

Hope this helps! Let me know!!

WRITE ON.

Hi Phillip E. Hardy, Prolifique! Thanks for the link. I just read your blog and love how you wrote it- to the point. It looks like a lot of people gained a lot of knowledge from it and I hope they put it to good use.

Nice of you to stop by the Lounge, Colette "ByFilms" Byfield. :) Great advice. When I read the title, I thought, "She found a secret way to get repped. I gotta find out what it is." Like it's some buried treasure you found. Haha I read the trades. I'm trying to read them more.

I agree with Maurice and hope to read more about your thoughts and activities about screenwriting. Have a great weekend.

Maurice Vaughan LOL! I’m just surprised how many people say that they are looking for management but don’t read the trades. There’s so much specific information that you won’t find in a regular google search for “managers”. In a way it is buried treasure- so many gold nuggets in the trades!

You're right, Colette "ByFilms" Byfield (There’s so much specific information that you won’t find in a regular google search for “managers”). I'm surprised sometimes by the helpful info and resources I read in the trades. It's like exploring a whole new world (aside from the regular platforms and forums).
