Screenwriting : Looking to start a new writer's group on the west side of L.A. by Rich Hynes

Looking to start a new writer's group on the west side of L.A.

Hi all, I'm looking to put together a writer's group on the west side of L.A. (Venice, Santa Monica, Del Rey area or thereabouts.) Developing a network of trusted readers, not to mention just networking in general, are important parts of writing. They also tend to be one of the hardest things for writers to do since plying our trade means sitting in solitary silence and writing (and re-writing and re-writing and re-writing again). I'm looking for fellow screenwriters (film and TV) who are "on the cusp". You've written a few scripts, maybe had a paid gig or two but haven't broken through to "working writer" yet. We would get together at least once a week at some coffee shop or quiet hole in the wall somewhere to offer feedback, encouragement and human contact. And snacks, depending on where we meet. Positive, constructive criticism on things like story, pacing, characters and dialogue along with discussion of the industry, things we've heard and our favorite movies and TV shows. If you're interested, email me at rich@richhynes.com and we'll chat. Social and professional. Fun and productive. Introspective, yet sometimes exuberant. Nine companions we shall be. The Fellowship of the Script. (Unless that name is taken or we can't use it for legal reasons.) (And nine was just a number to fit the quote. Maybe nine. Maybe more. Maybe less. We'll figure it out. No worries.) -Rich

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Well, by "trusted readers" I mean people whose opinions you trust. Someone with some level of knowledge or credibility who will tell you what works and what doesn't without fear of hurting your feelings. Constructive criticism. As for the writer's group, I'm looking for fellow writers at or about the level I described above.
