Mentoring and discussion of script

Hey guys, so I was lucky enough to win a mentorship with an agent after a pitch and he is currently reading my script and should be getting back to me in the next few days. I am so incredibly excited but also, I wanna know if you guys have any tips for when he does call to discuss? I'd really appreciate your input

Elisabeth Meier

Sonibel, I'd say first listen well, don't jump into the discussion, just take notes, never take anything personal and then take your time to think about it and tell him/her you will call back after you checked his ideas. The first discussion after you just finished a script is the most difficult. That's why I always like a little time distance before I discuss the first feedback. After this it will be easier. Maybe this is helpful for you as well. Good luck!

Andrew Martin Smith

Excellent advice Elisabeth. It is just so easy to go on the defensive and gob off. Silence is golden.

Thank you Andrew and greetings to London! It's true, your instinct will always tell you to defend your script immediately against each critic. Real strength lies in calmness.
