Interesting article...well I guess it usually comes down to who is who or better yet, who reps who. Although I've read of some authors receiving astronomical sums for selling their stories/scripts it's mostly downbeat job I agree. On the other side not everyone is after big bucks all the time. Some like to gain credit, fame, some would like to prove themselves they're achiever etc.. Bottom line for me it's always to have steady income aside. Can't imagine someone having a day-to-day job only and exclusively writing fiction.

yeah i have not seen any signs on the street looking for full-time paid fiction writers! i agree it's a who-you-know scenario for most of these deals. let me know what you are working on!

I work retail for a living and write horror. I was one of those who thought that making a living as a writer would instantly work. Then again that was back in college. Recently had a pitch meeting and did some voice work- still writing and finding that success isn’t about the sales but the satisfaction. And reviews have said that my work is scary, creepy.
