Interesting article on the business models of stage vs. screen. I love the quote (above) from my former boss. http://bit.ly/1CRNd5S

Thank you for sharing this, Laurie. That is something how things are. And would you agree that writers have more power in Television as well.

It's true television is an easier sell these days but the paradigm to that is also changing and the evolution of that change seems to be infinite -- the definition of television a few years from now will most likely be something that we hold in our pockets 80% of the time and few years from that it will projected onto our car windows.
Plus with YouTube, Crackle, and other smaller services the landscape is diluted more than ever. HBO offering their HBO GO as a stand alone subscription. I can just see the future if TV is projected onto car windows! That will cause more accidents than DWI and texting combined!
It amazes me how topics jump so quickly, but I shall go with the flow... TV has been monetized for decades, but that is quickly changing. While there will always be ad revenue (to wit YouTube) the days of Comcast getting away with what amounts to a modest car payment for content are dwindling and I'm willing to bet that within the next 10 yrs. we will all have a much more ala carte content delivery system catered to our habits and subscriptions. MINORITY REPORT'S ad servers were based on input from a group Spielberg consulted with called the futurists society. As for plays... I am currently receiving one line by line via text messaging. I imagine it's a different experience if you are not traveling but because I am I get to binge participate!
Thanks for sharing Laurie :)
Writers are still alive and well on the TV side of Hollywood. That's why there's been a continuing surge of creativity on Netflix, HBO, and AMC. When you see TV credits for Producers, they're actually writers with seniority. On the feature side, it's a whole different game. Feature creatives are now heading into TV for both a decent environment and artistic flexibility.
