Thanks, Lisa. Here's the matter. The scripts what I wrote, my investor likes and he orders a further series scripts. I heard that the pilot episode script has coefficient value of 1.5. Definitely I need clarity on this issue.
Are you saying you have heard that the pilot episode is more expensive to shoot than the subsequent episodes? And you want to know how much more it costs than the rest of the episodes? If I'm understanding then 1.5 is an acceptable, general number. Could be lower, could be much higher. But if you need a number to help you write then go with the coefficient value of 1.5.
Well D Markus, what you will say for your investor (producer) if he order to write a script for the project? Probably you will say "SHOW ME YOUR MONEY, BABY!" Is not it? )))
Two things to consider: what is your time worth to you and what can the producer afford. Some writers are willing to work for very little (or nothing) when they believe their career will be helped. Some (like me) believe if a producer can't pay for the script but will pay for other things (equipment rental, locations, food) it's not worth it. I can't give you a number without more information. There is a Guild minimum here in the States. I think there is a minimum in the UK. None of those really matter for non-Guild projects but it give you an idea what the pros are paid. As you said, the writer should say "Show me the money." The producer should make you an offer not the other way around. However, if YOU want to set a number to present to then than you need to decide what your time and talent is worth.
D Markus. Thanks! Meantime, whether correctly I understand that the scripts for such series as Vikings or Game of Thrones written before shooting stage? Definitely this is not a soap opera to write scripts on the run... Share please your kind opinion )))
D Marcus, thanks! By the way, what are you doing in LA? Do you have any ties in deal consulting area beetwen writer and investor (porducer)? I have some small but important questions.
